This study aims to examine young peoples? attitudes towards crimes related to riots. It also examines if there?s a difference in attitudes to different crimes and if there is a connection between these attitudes and friends experience of crime, gender, socioeconomic position or residential area. There is a lack of research in this area, most of the studies on riots focus on the reasons and driving forces leading to riots.

This essay focuses on the press coverage of the riots in Gothenburg 2001. The questions it aims to answer are, How is it that although the media was gender-neutral in its news reports, the lasting memory is one of rioting men, and why did the media simultaneously exaggerate and minimize the importance of the riots?The material consists of articles and photographs from Swedish mainstream newspapers. The method is text analysis, with a heavy influence of discourse theory. The conclusions are that since the hegemonic discourse on gender does not allow women to be active and violent, all bodies in the riot automatically become men, no matter how female they seem to be in other contexts.

Syftet med denna uppsats är att undersöka hur de angloskandinaviska stenmonumenten i norra England uppstod och utvecklades under 900-talet. Uppsatsen tar upp de tidigaste monumenten och undersöker om några av dessa kan dateras till slutet av 800-talet, dvs. direkt efter vikingarnas erövring av norra England. Därefter undersöks hur den vidare utvecklingen gått till och hur teorierna om den ser ut. Slutligen ställs även frågan vad vi har för nytta av monumenten i forskningen..

Syftet med arbetet är att beskriva och jämföra teknikämnet i Sverige och England. Syftet har varit att ta reda på varför teknik blev ett obligatoriskt ämne i de båda länderna, hur teknikämnets bakgrund ser ut, samt hur teknikämnet ser ut idag i de båda ländernas kursplan. Orsakerna till att teknikämnet blev obligatoriskt var ungefär samma i Sverige och England, men olika skäl var olika viktiga. I Sverige var det huvudsakliga skälet att öka den tekniska allmänbildningen. I England var det viktigast att öka teknikämnets status.

The memory of expulsions among the expelling groups has been fairly studied, and has potential to create new conflicts. This qualitative study uses in-depth interviews to describe the memory of the 6-7 September events and the Greek minority in Istanbul among a group of Turkish descent people living in Beyoglu, Istanbul. Further the study compares the memory with the written history and explains why the memories of the past are shaped according to the present. The Greek minority of Istanbul are remembered in words of friendship and neighbourliness, but these memories are rather a nostalgia of the past for present needs than an image of the past itself. The memories of the events among the studied group are dominated by the general destruction occasioned by the riots but tend to contradict the violence towards the Greek minority.

The study explores collective action in Sweden between 1980 to 1995 using time-series data from the European Protest and Coercion Database. In spite of severe hardship during the crisis of the early 1990s, Swedish strike-rates declined. However, contention merely shifted from workplaces into the streets; there was indeed a protest movement against austerity, as shown by a series of large demonstrations, and some riots, between 1989 and 1993. Further analysis indicates this movement faded as it was increasingly chanelled into the electoral campaign of the labor pary; having won the 1994 election, the organised labor movement no longer had an interest in sustaining the protest movement against austerity..

I förskolan ska barnen möta en praktisk och lekfull matematik. Även i de tidiga åren i skolan ska lek ges stort inflytande. Ändå har jag träffat på barn i de tidiga åren i skolan som uttrycker att matematik bara är något som görs i böcker. Därför är syftet med min studie att undersöka övergången i matematik från förskola till skola i både Sverige och England. De undersökningsmetoder som används är kvalitativa intervjuer med både barn och pedagoger, samt lektionsobservationer.Resultatet visar att matematikövergången i England följer en tydligare röd tråd än här i Sverige och även att barnen där har lättare att uppfatta den.

This thesis aim to investigate the living conditions among marginalized habitants of suburbs in the Swedish welfare state. To approach an understanding of the complexity of marginalized urban areas, this thesis focus on studying the Stockholm suburb Husby in a context of the May riots 2013.The research method used is qualitative interviews with seven informants, who have a connection to the Husby area.The theories applied to the empirical material is Gösta Esping-Andersens theory on welfare state regimes and Loïc Wacquants theory on advanced marginality, also known as ?The new urban poverty?.By observing the complexity of the Husby riots in a contextual aspect of the Swedish welfare state and the living situation in Husby, the analysis has shown that the Swedish welfare model is going through a changing process. This process means a shift from a social democratic welfare model towards a more liberal regime, with an increased privatization of public welfare and a focus on individual responsibility regarding the citizens own living conditions. Husby as an area is characterized by a low socioeconomic status, a high level of unemployment and poor school results.

Liturgierna, katolicitetsmarkörerna och förhållandet mellan de enskilda kyrkorna och Kristi världsvida, universella, kyrka analyseras. According to the client, land survey of Sweden, there is no current information regarding other well developed property tax systems. This information is necessary in order to analyze the effectiveness and develop the Swedish system. The purpose of this study is to contribute with improvement proposals to the development of the Swedish property tax system through a survey of the English and Welsh property tax system.Methods used are: (1) a literature review where the English and Welsh valuation methodology and organization regarding property taxation is studied; (2) an interview with the client at the land survey of Sweden regarding existing problems with the Swedish property tax system; (3) An interview with a contact person of the Valuation Office Agency regarding the English and Welsh property tax system.In England and Wales there are two different property taxes for municipals, Council Tax and Rating. All domestic properties are included in Council Tax and commercial properties or part of commercial properties is included in Rating. Council Tax is based on the properties market value and Rating is based on the commercial property or part of the properties current rental value.

In this bachelor essay an attempt is done, to recreate a probable Bronze Age landscape on Gotland, with GIS as a tool. The landscape on Gotland is situated with many different monuments dated Bronze Age, such as cairns and stone ships. In creating of the maps, two possible shorelines contemporary with the Bronze Age have been calculated and marked on the maps. Furthermore, peat lands have been drawn upon the maps, by using the information from geological maps.A landscape variable have been compared between Bronze Age places and Early Iron Age houses; the soil type. On Bronze Age places gravel is the most common, while moraine marl is the most common on places with Early Iron Age houses.From a selection that were made, all Bronze Age places where within 3 km from the water, either the recreated shoreline or peat land.

Ett flertal undersökningar tyder på att utvecklingen av stöldbrott minskat det senaste decenniet i nästan alla Västeuropeiska länder. Syftet med denna studie är att med hjälp av offentlig kriminalstatistik från Brottsförebyggande rådet (Brå) och Home Office undersöka och jämföra stöldbrottslighetens utveckling mellan 1975-2010 i två västeuropeiska länder ? Sverige och England. Studien redogör för den generella utvecklingen av stöldbrott samt för tre huvudkategorier: inbrottsstölder, fordonsrelaterade stölder och butiksstölder. Studien kommer att lägga vikten på att redovisa och analysera trender istället för nivåer av brott och avser att undersöka vilken betydelse förändringar i tillfällesstrukturen har haft för stöldbrottsutvecklingen i dessa länder.Frågeställningar som skall besvaras är följande:Hur ser stöldbrottsutvecklingen ut i Sverige respektive England under perioden 1975-2010?Finns det några skillnader i stöldbrottstyp?Vilken betydelse har tillfällesstrukturen för utvecklingen av stöldbrott i dessa två västeuropeiska länder?En sammanfattning av studiens resultat visar att utvecklingen av stöldbrott i Sverige och England har en likartad neråtgående trend, men att det finns vissa skillnader vad gäller de olika kategorierna av stöldbrott.
